I promised almost a year ago I would share some of my own personal wedding photos from last April but I haven’t yet. I’m terrible! I normally under promise and over deliver (it’s one of my rules of thumb when it comes to business) but somehow when it comes to my personal blog posts I just can’t do it. Better late than never, right? We had our very generous friends – Robin and Lulu (see Robin’s work here and Lulu’s work here) from Vancouver come over to the Island to photograph our very secretive wedding. I’ve had a hard time communicating to them the thoughtfulness of them capturing our special day as a gift to us – ESPECIALLY because they don’t really shoot weddings. I know firsthand how stressful it can be which made me appreciate them even more.
Our wedding was small and intimate. We had immediate family only in attendance and most of our friends didn’t even know we were getting married! I’m so glad we decided to go this way and fly under the radar. We had such an intimate and memorable ceremony under a gorgeous Garry Oak tree in Beacon Hill park – one of our favorite places. There was nothing about the day I would have changed except to maybe have a little sunshine and less hypothermia. Terrible weather aside, at the end of the day I was married to the person I love the most and that is the only thing I could have ever wished for. The fact that we had family travel from all corners of the world to be there on top of that? I”m extremely grateful.
Here are a few of my favorites from the day.
The lovely and talented ladies at Ma-Luxe glammed me and “the moms” up for the day and did a great job.
This is my mother-in-law – isn’t she stunning?
And this is my mom. How gorgeous is she?! Seriously.
My dad thinks like he looks as if he is wearing a toupe in this picture but I love it!
Troy’s gorgeous sister on the left surprised us by flying in from Toronto for only about 15 hours. We didn’t know she was there until the wedding ceremony.
Here is where I almost cried. I held it together though.
I could never thank the amazing and kind Barbara Densmore enough for writing us a custom ceremony. It was funny, memorable and just so US. There are no words to describe how much it meant to both of us. If you need a wedding commissionaire, I can’t recommend her enough.
I decided to buy these photo props from this Etsy store and I so happy I did. They made for some really fun photos – some of these just may be my faves.
