Vishal called me and left a message a couple weeks ago. He told me in his voicemail that he planned on proposing to his girlfriend Neetu the next day and hoped I could be there to document it. I had my staff Christmas party that night and normally I would decline a job the day after in case I misbehaved a little (rarely ever happens...) but in this case I just couldn't say no. I have been wanting to photograph a proposal for a very long time and Vishal was just so NICE. So I said yes and hoped she would too.
We texted back and forth numerous times over the next day - arranging which champagne I should pick up, how he wanted me to set up the scene, the location details, etc. Being a very thoughtful person, Vishal decided to proposal to Neetu on a secluded beach near Sidney which is very special to her because she spent a lot of time there as a child. We had devised a plan that I set up a blanket, candles and champagne on the beach and pretend I was photographing some landscape when they walked down to the beach. I did just that and waited. When I saw Vishal leading Neetu down to the beach it was probably one of the most exciting moments I've ever had in my photography career. I mean, he was going to propose and she had NO IDEA. He got down on one knee and from her reaction I could tell she was surprised and that she said YES.
What an amazing moment to be a part of you two, so thank you. It was a pleasure meeting you both and I really hope that our paths cross in the future. Here are a few photos to share.
