My so called preggo life // Real life pregnancy chronicles #4

30 weeks people!  I can’t believe that I’m here already. 10 weeks to go?  Crazy town. I really have a feeling this little girl is coming early. I don't know why but I just do.

I’ve been feeling pretty good still (except for some small bouts of pure exhaustion) although I’ve been experiencing a bit of insomnia. Fairly regularly I wake up around 3 or 4am and can’t seem to get back to sleep. It’s so frustrating! Then of course I’m exhausted all day. Another physical annoyance that has cropped up is Diastasis Recti which is just a really fancy name for splitting abdominal muscles. My muscles almost look like a tent in the middle of my stomach if I do sit ups. I’ve been advised by my midwife to not do any more ab work unless it’s working the transverse muscles.  My workout circuit is becoming increasingly difficult to get through without a million modifications.  Has anyone else had experience with this and can you offer any tips to get your stomach back to normal after pregnancy?  What about insomnia? Any magical cures that I haven't heard of?

My saving grace these days is Prenatal yoga.  No matter how tired I am going there I always leave feeling refreshed and relaxed.  I feel like I’ve all of a sudden been invited to join this secret preggo woman’s club. Everyone is so nice at these classes and we have so much to talk about because of course we are going through so many of the same things physically and mentally. The classes themselves are really helpful as well.  Our teacher says so many inspirational things to help prepare us for labour and for what to expect after the baby is born. It makes me feel so much less overwhelmed with everything happening or about to happen.  My husband likes to pick me up and ask how the basketball game went.  Talk about Dad jokes. There seem to be more and more of them lately......:)

But enough about me, let's talk about PEOPLE for a minute shall we?  I think I touched on this in previous blogs but seriously.  Not a day goes by when I don't get at least 5 people telling me how big I've gotten.  Like I said before - just don't tell a pregnant girl she is "big". I know I'm getting bigger because guess what? That's what f*ing happens!  Women who have been pregnant before should know this golden rule but somehow it doesn't stop them from commenting. Also, I'm not even that big! You want to see big? I am about to show you big in the next two months.   And yes I will have that baked good and if you comment about me eating for two you are DEAD. Also unless you are my friend please don't touch me. Having a pregnant belly does not give you free license to rub me.  I know I"m extra sensitive because of all my raging hormones but I feel like actually slapping people at least 10 times a day.  I don't like the attention that pregnancy brings on and I would rather people mind their own business.   So if you see me and you do either of these things and I have a nice big smile on my face know that I am actually bitch slapping you in my mind.  Just sayin.....:)  Rant over.

I have another ultrasound in a few weeks to make sure that my placenta hasn’t gotten any lower than last time so I’m excited to see baby again.  She has definitely grown a lot since my first ultrasound. I’ll try to post some pictures if I get more!   For now here is another crappy selfie.

Highs:

-the baby communicates with my husband all the time – he gives her a little squeeze and she kicks. It’s pretty cute. She is also very communicative with me. She doesn’t (usually) wake me up in the morning but the second I put my hand on my stomach she starts to move and if I move my hand around she moves her body to find mine. Extra cute.

-I got to eat first at Thanksgiving dinner ……….I guess pregnancy does have some perks

-baby is right on track for where she is supposed to be measuring right now and her heart beat is strong and healthy – it’s always nice to get reassuring news from my midwife at my check ups

-32 left of work - YAY! I mean I love cubicle life and all but.....a break will be nice.

-Thai maternity massages from my Doula.....pure bliss.

Lows:

-I’m tireddddddddddd – I would pay to be able to nap once a day but unfortunately working two jobs doesn’t leave much time for that

-getting a dripping nosebleed when I was in the lineup to vote – so embarrassing. Been getting lots of these lately but usually I’m at home and don’t have a room full of people staring at me

-if I go for a walk I have to pee every 10 minutes. It’s extremely inconvenient. Another reason why I should stick to my couch.

-wanting to bite someone's head off when I hear for the 10th time that day "wow you sure are big now". Yes I have a 3lb  frickin human inside of me and she GROWS. Every day. Imagine that.
