Montreal Memories

It’s been a while since I was in Montreal but am finally just getting around to blogging about it.  What an amazing city!  It wasn’t my first time there but the last time I was there was only for a few days and it’s safe to say my eyes rarely saw the daylight hours.  This time was a more “G” rated trip spent with family which was a refreshing change, and much easier on the liver.  I love Montreal so much that if it weren’t for the harsh winters I would live there in a heartbeat. Oh yeah, well except for the language barrier.  You know how your parents always tell you that you will regret it later on in life if you don’t pay attention in school?  It has been 100% untrue in my life up until now. Why was I not conjugating french verbs instead of thinking up ways to torment my french teacher?  Now I’m left with a pathetic french vocabulary wishing that I could live in a city where being bilingual is a necessity in order to work.

Besides spending my time dreaming of jobs I could work in Montreal that require little to no french, I felt like I did and saw a lot. Biking in Old Montreal, exploring Mount Royal,  enjoying coffee in quaint shops on St. Catherine,  dining & dancing at Buonanotte and chowing on massive smoked meat sandwich’s at Schwartz’s were among my favorite memories.  I do wish that I had taken more pictures of Old Montreal but we didn’t spend a lot of time there besides the bike ride and it was a little hard to juggle a camera and peddle a bike – call me crazy but I’m not that co-ordinated.  Ahhh well, guess I will just have to go back….

Saying au revoir to my favorite city was bittersweet. After ten days away from my West Coast home I must confess I will missing it a little although mere days after I got home I was already thinking about my next trip back……..perhaps a few french courses are in my near future?  Check out a few of my favorite pictures here.
