Weddings can literally be anything you want them to be and I am so here for those who decide to make theirs just SO THEM. Jillian and Dan are both huge book people so why not get married in a bookstore 📕?! Being a major book nerd myself this was one of the most fun weddings I’ve shot in 13 years - hands down! Slow clap for these two on location choice and a massive congratulations on your wedding !

If you are thinking about eloping here my 3 top tips for planning (when it comes to photography 📸)

1. Location, location, location! Elopements can make for some epic photos and without having to make sure that it’s accessible for everyone attending you can likely have your pick of some gems. Reach out to your photographer because they likely have a list of special places they have been dying to shoot at that are private and not well known to the public.

2. That light tho. Good lighting not only elevates your photos but it introduces the potential is making absolute photographic magic on your wedding day. Since you have a lot more leeway when you decide to elope, plan on having the wedding about 90 minutes before sunset which will give you lots of time for golden hour photos. If thats not possible then sunrise is also gorgeous OR choose a wooded area with lots of open shade.

3. Make it your own. Personalized vows, a custom wedding dress, your dream photographer, the list goes on! If you aren’t spending money on a more traditional wedding then you may have the resources to treat yourself to something a little more custom or what you may not have the funds to do if you were having a larger wedding. And don’t worry- this doesn’t mean you have to spend a lot of money! For example personalized vows don’t cost a thing. Some people aren’t comfortable talking so openly to their partner in front of a crowd but if its just the two of you this opens up so many more possibilities 👏🏻
