This Jones Lake couples session has been a long time coming! It has always been a goal for myself to step outside my comfort zone and attend a photography workshop. It’s crazy that I’ve been doing this for ten years and have never once attended a workshop. It’s so hard to choose which to attend as there are so many talented photographers to learn from out there. I decided on the McLachlan’s & Jaleesa Matteazzi’s workshop in Hope called Off The Beaten Path. I definitely cannot recommend these amazing humans enough!
First off, I love going away by myself. There’s something about being a mom that makes time alone so damn good. The first night involved takeout sushi, Pinot Noir and trashy reality TV. BEST TIME EVER. Next up was the day of the workshop and I was super excited/nervous. Turns out there was nothing to be nervous about! Everyone was so welcoming and sweet and made us all feel so welcome and at home. We spent the first part of the day learning everything from posing prompts, to customer service, client contact tips, social media, marketing and so much more!
For the afternoon portion, up we started our adventure up to Jones Lake. I was one of the only ones with an SUV so a bunch of girls piled in my Jeep and we made the long and bumpy trek. The road to Jones Lake is just a tad bumpy (think 2 foot potholes haha), windy and pretty steep. Luckily I’m from a small town with no way in but down a one lane dirt road mountain so I don’t get phased from dirt roads. Once we got to the top we met our fabulous models and got to shooting! Sydney and Merrick were the BEST to photograph! They were all laughs and so much fun.
I’m really happy with these photos and I’m forever grateful to The McLachlans & Jaleesa for sharing all their knowledge with us! If you are a photographer and looking for a workshop you should definitely attend one from this duo as you won’t be disappointed.
Enjoy my favorite photos from this Jones Lake couples session!
