Haakon & Candice // Bella Coola Wedding Photography

This wedding is near and dear to my heart because it’s the first one I have shot in my hometown.  Bella Coola is a super small coastal town on the mainland of BC.  Although I’ve lived in Victoria for about 14 years now it’s where I grew up and there are a lot of memories there for me.  After going back for what seems like funeral after funeral it was so nice to be going back for a happy event.  The scenery there is really out of this world and something you can’t describe to someone. You just have to experience it for yourself.

Of course, being a small town everyone pretty much knows everyone. Haakon was a few years younger than me growing up but of course I remembered the kid he used to be andddd he is nothing like that anymore!  He is, however a super nice human being (who happens to be really tall!). I met Candice for the first time on her wedding day and she is such a sweet soul. Their wedding was an absolutely stunning one including the backdrop of the massive Bella Coola mountains to the hand made details upon details decorating Haawkon’s family’s property where they got married.  And the people themselves…..the best. Instead of rambling on I will just share a few images from the day:

I hung out with the girls in the early afternoon while they prepped for the wedding.

Haakon planted this tree they got married in front of when he was a young boy…how cool is that?!

Not a bad backdrop, I guess….

Carrots! Fresh picked out of the garden……

These next few photos were taken in one of the bridesmaid’s back yards! Whaaa?!!  So gorgeous. It’s like a provincial forest park. For a back yard.

Candice’s Dad MADE her engagement ring!  How special is that? Gorgeous.

Candice & Haakon – I can’t quite put into words how awesome it was to be able to come back “home” to document your wedding. It was such a special day and you two are so lucky to be surrounded by so many people who love you. I can’t wait to see what your future has in store!
