Sooke Harbour House Elopement // Claire + Dan
This was my first time shooting a Sooke Harbour House elopement and I’m hooked! I’m obsessed with the location and everything about it. It has a quaintness on the inside, lots of vines and greenery on the outside and an ocean view. Oh AND the staff are super nice. Simply stunning! I’m hoping to go back this year so if you are planning a wedding there – HOLLLLAA!
Dan contacted me about photographing their elopement pretty close to the date and I was happy to oblige. Him and Claire were coming from Ontario to elope so I didn’t get the chance to meet them until the wedding day. What lovely people! Claire’s smile is infectious and Dan is equally as awesome. Dan and his best friend (one of the two guests at the wedding) had just rented motorcycles and traveled all over Vancouver Island as a fun lead up to the wedding day. Super cool!
When I walked into the room to meet Claire she was hanging with her best friend having a beer and getting ready for the day. It doesn’t get more chill than that! I love her easygoing vibe and her relaxed nature throughout the day. I grabbed a few getting ready shots then went to chat with the boys about their motorcycle trip across the Island. Soon it was time for the wedding and it was pretty stellar. Short and sweet, with lots of laughs in between. Claire had told me Dan would probably cry during the ceremony but he did a pretty good job of holding it together! PS It ALWAYS gets me when the men cry during ceremonies.
After the ceremony we headed to the beach and captured some fun photos with Dan, Claire and their wedding party. Next we wandered around the property capturing more of the lovebirds. Near the end of our time together we even had a few deer walk into our shots! I’ve never had that happen before so it was pretty amazing! They weren’t scared of us at all which allowed us to get some pretty stellar photos.
THANK YOU both for having me at your Sooke Harbour House elopement! I’ll truly never forget this day and I’m sending you good vibes from BC – come back and visit again soon!
