Beach House Wedding// Emma + Matt

The Beach House wedding photography

I’ve been trying to blog this Beach House wedding for a few weeks now. But I have so much to say about it that I’ve been trying to narrow it down to a readable blog!

I have photographed a number of weddings at The Beach House but this one was definitely memorable.  For one, Emma and Matt came from Alberta to get married on the beach….but it poured. It rained the way it rarely rains in Victoria – the torrential sideways kinda rain where you look like a drowned rat if you go outside for two minutes in it kinda rain.  There was no way they could have had 100+ guests sitting outside so about an hour before the ceremony Emma calmly called it – they were going to get married inside. Even though a beach wedding was top on her priority list there were no tears or damper of any kind – she took it like a champ and that’s a testament to the kind of amazing, laid back person she is.  Also…the laughs. I don’t think I’ve ever had more fun at the getting ready portion of the day. These ladies are my kind of people.  Another reason this wedding stands out in my mind is Matt and his reaction to seeing his beautiful bride walk down the aisle. I don’t think there was a dry eye.

After an emotional ceremony, the rains finally let up so we were able to take the portraits outside on the beach. I was stoked that these two at least got some beach-y photos!   Photos were followed by dinner with the ultimate comfort foods including mac n cheese, pizza, chicken fingers, and MORE. MMMMMMMM. What a great idea.  After all of this still, I think the most memorable part were the speeches. The speeches at weddings are when it all comes together for us as photographers. We have hung out with you all day and are getting to know you, your friends and your family quite a bit more. But speeches bring out the juicy details of your lives – how you met, how long you have known each other, funny/embarrassing stories and all those heartfelt moments in between.  These speeches did not disappoint and again I’m pretty sure everyone (including me) was either crying or trying not to cry.

Emma and Matt – you two are so loved.  Your relationship is based on a friendship but it’s so much deeper than that – you are soul mates!  I am so damn lucky to have played a small piece of your love story. And I cannot WAIT to hang out again. Here are just a few frames from this Beach house wedding – hope you enjoy.
